About Ben Lynch

For the vast majority of Ben Lynch’s life he has had the aspiration to inspire through the careful articulation of his works. Lynch has his sights set on the development and growth of those whom he comes into contact with, whether in person or through his words. Ben Lynch’s most recent work of fiction, ‘Tiran’, falls under the medieval fantasy category but focuses on the inevitable battle within human nature itself; want versus need. Lynch, born in Hartsville South Carolina, currently resides in the wonderful state of Virginia, coaching college soccer, exploring nature, and spending time with friends and family in his free time. An introduction to Ben Lynch: What made you want to start writing? We’ve all seen movies, shows, read books, or short stories that tug on our heart strings. For me, that has always been one of the greatest things about humanity.

Being able to create a moment, a sense, an environment, or simple conversation that causes the reader to feel emotion is nothing short of inspirational. I have always wanted to replicate that magic, thus my passion for writing! How do you get the idea for the land of Tiran? The story itself honestly came to me my senior of college. Obviously it took much more time to flesh everything out, including the realm of Tiran. My real goal was to create a place where the reader could come face to face with the idea of ‘want versus need’ at every turn. This, in essence, helped me come up with each character, conversation, and setting. Do you see yourself in any of the characters? I’ll try not to be too cliche but I see a little bit of myself in Amon, Bale, and Ramses. That being said, I think most people could identify with them. For me specifically, those three represent the different seasons of life. Anger and frustration, loyalty and passion, curiosity and ignorance. I think these are things we all go through in life.
